FIVE VIEWS ON LETTUCE

** well, the title in the magazine article is "hyperbolic plane".. here's a quote from the mag "if you remember high school geometry, a simple plane is completely flat.  A hyperbolic plane, on the other hand, has curves that go up and down, like ruffles.  As the plane gets bigger, the inner ruffles generate more ripples."

** this crochet experiment was mapped out by Dr. Taimina, starting on page 6 of the Interweave Crochet issue mag for Fall 2005...
she is my new hero

** yup, could there be a more perfect project for me!?!  i whipped this up in a couple hours on a size D crochet hook, Nature Wool yarn...

** the second i had the magazine home i was finding the perfect yarn for it... i think its kinda funny that it looks like lettuce!!

** when taking these 5 photos i did not move the crochet or reshape the ruffles... they are all just different angles of the artwork...

** i think i've found my new obsession... dont be surprised to find photos next week of myself buried in a pile of these!!!
